Displaying georeferenced scientific data using Google Maps

23 October 09:00 - 24 October 17:00 2012

@ Dunbeg, Argyll & Bute PA37, UK

If you want to learn how to present live scientific data using Google maps this course is for you. These days many types of data are geo-referenced (latitude, longitude). In addition to producing static maps, most projects can benefit from real time or near-real time dynamic display (mapping) of data or results. Over the years we have adopted Google Maps API to quickly and effectively bring our data sets to life, and have found it to be an effective and inexpensive solution. Displays produced with Google Maps API are rendered on a web page, making them immediately available worldwide via the internet. Google Maps API works across all contemporary operating systems and internet browsers. This unique hands-on course will help you develop similar products with Google Maps API, using contemporary scripting languages such as JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and HTML. Taught by our data and development team on computers running freely available software packages (CentOS Linux distribution, Apache web server), this course is not to be missed. The course is suitable for people with some programming experience. If you only have limited programming experience we will be happy to supply pre-course materials to allow you to benefit fully from the course. You are also encouraged to bring examples of your own data to work on. The course fee covers presentations, course notes and lunch on both days. Participants are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodation if required. Course fees and application Course fees: £350 + VAT Delegates are responsible for arranging their own accommodation. Course leader: Lovro Valcic Course dates: 5-6 Sep 2012
